I started this journey with the idea of improving my financial skills, in order to lead the business. Now I realize that I received much more than that.
I had recommendations from my colleagues regarding ASEBUSS, so I listened to them. I’m glad I followed their advice because it was an unique experience.
The ASEBUSS EMBA program helped me to better understand the role and responsibilities of the new position of general manager. More than that, it has connected me to a network of extraordinary people: national and international teachers and alumni. Through the program I have managed to be in touch with other business people from different backgrounds and I have been able to see Integraph Computer Services from various perspectives, through the skills of my colleagues.
The program period coincided with the crisis moments of 2016 for IT companies “doing business with the state” in Romania. Being an IT-based SME company that had 90% of public sector revenue, it was a repositioning moment. Many of the ideas that have become part of the company’s new strategy have been gathered from my experience at ASEBUSS; business and management ideas that I have learned here.
I remember the international meetings, where we had to synchronize our schedule with 5-7 people from Bucharest and Atlanta – different time zones – and make decisions in business scenarios. It is a fantastic experience in which you have to balance the rational plans (the homework we were given, the decisions we had to take) with the emotional ones (different cultures, group dynamics, assertive communication, family problems, etc.)
The learning and knowledge transmission methods are different from that of the classical system in Romania. At ASEBUSS the knowledge was not taught but clarified; the experiences of other companies are not taught but discovered by the student; mistakes are not shown but experienced.
